The chemical sciences and engineering have critical roles to play in making the advances we need in developing alternative energy strategies, in discovering new medicines and diagnostic tools, and in bettering our environment. In each of these efforts, synthetic chemists, physical chemists, biochemists and chemical engineers will be required to develop the new tools, new molecules, new materials and new processes that are essential for revolutionary advance.
Strategic areas for research in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering include:

- biological circuitry
- nanomaterials for functional design
CCE is home to more than 40 professors and three degree programs. The Faculty's students and post-doctoral colleagues have access to many educational resources, as well as opportunities for both basic and applied research.
